[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon Cultural Foundation announced on the 23rd that it has held the opening ceremony for the ‘Citizen Record Activist Training’ and started the training course for cultural and artistic professionals, as the importance of citizens' record culture has increased due to the expansion of cultural resource discovery in the Suncheon area.

The ‘Citizen Record Activist Training’ selects 25 citizens interested in the cultural and artistic field to secure professionals specialized in recording, collecting, and preserving (archiving) local private materials and oral history of residents' life stories. The training will be held every Saturday until August 27 at the Suncheonbu Eupseong Multipurpose Hall.

The training content consists of step-by-step and practical programs ranging from basic literacy to cultivate a recording mindset to practical archiving methodologies, including ▲field surveys and collection activities to discover local private records and regional stories ▲oral history recording, interview, and photography training ▲village record practice field trips ▲visits to advanced cases and expert guest lectures, allowing participants to fully experience archiving methodologies.

A representative of the Suncheon Cultural Foundation stated, “Through the Citizen Record Activist Training, planned as part of the cultural and artistic professional training academy, we hope to discover and nurture field-centered record activity experts who will create the local record culture together, contributing to the establishment and development of a self-sustaining private record culture.”
