LG Uplus employees and ICTK Holdings employees are testing whether video is securely transmitted by connecting VPN equipment with PUF technology applied to intelligent CCTV cameras.
원본보기 아이콘[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] LG Uplus announced on the 23rd that it has jointly developed the world's first 'PUF VPN' technology that can enhance the security of 'Intelligent CCTV' for small business owners with ICTK Holdings, a total solution company specializing in Internet of Things (IoT) security.
PUF, which stands for Physical Unclonable Function, is a technology that generates and utilizes encryption keys by exploiting microscopic gaps that occur during semiconductor manufacturing. The chip gaps occurring at the nanometer scale are irregularly formed, giving each chip uniqueness like a human fingerprint, which can be used as a security key. A Virtual Private Network (VPN) is a technology that establishes a virtual tunnel in the internet communication path between each entity exchanging data and the server, allowing communication to be used securely like a private network.
The PUF VPN developed by the two companies applies PUF technology to the VPN between CCTV and the server, delivering video more securely through multiple stages of security authentication to prevent anyone other than the user from hacking the CCTV and server. In addition, it combines PUF with WireGuard VPN, which is faster and more secure than existing VPNs, enhancing VPN performance. In fact, tests applying PUF VPN to CCTV showed a speed improvement of about 20% compared to SSL VPN.
LG Uplus plans to prioritize applying PUF VPN to intelligent CCTV for customers subscribed to the 'U+ Our Store Package,' a package product specialized for small business owners in the food service industry, to alleviate concerns about store security.
