원본보기 아이콘[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] CJ CheilJedang announced on the 1st that it will operate Hetbahn container collection bins at all 78 Emart stores located in the metropolitan area and 10 representative Lotte Mart stores.
This project is being carried out as a collaboration between Emart's plastic reduction campaign 'Gapuljiu (Take it, Protect Plastic, Protect Our Sea)' and Lotte Mart's Earth Love campaign ‘RE:EARTH’.
At Lotte Mart, Hetbahn container-exclusive collection bins were installed for the first time among large marts. Lotte Mart operates collection bins at Junggye Branch, Zetaflex Branch, Cheongnyangni Branch, Eunpyeong Branch, Seoul Station Branch, Yeongjongdo Branch, Pangyo Branch, Gunsan Branch, Daedeok Branch, and Dangjin Branch. Participants in the campaign also receive a coupon for 1,000 L.Points. In addition to offline stores, Emart offers participation in an online collection program through a separate website (Teracycle) linked to 'Gapuljiu'.
Emart and Lotte Mart plan to continuously expand the number of stores with Hetbahn container collection bins. CJ CheilJedang aims to collect 4 million Hetbahn containers this year and recycle them into trays for holiday gift sets and other products.
A CJ CheilJedang official said, "We ask for active participation from consumers so that the Hetbahn container collection campaign can establish itself as a ‘resource circulation platform for the environment’," adding, "We will actively practice sustainable management through sincere efforts to reduce plastic."
Meanwhile, CJ CheilJedang has been conducting the 'Our Containers for the Earth' campaign on its official mall CJ The Market since January.
