[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Actress Kang Soo-yeon (55) was transported to the hospital in a state of cardiac arrest on the 5th.

According to the fire department, Kang was found in cardiac arrest by firefighters who responded to a report from her family after she complained of pain at her home in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, at around 5:48 PM that day.

Kang was moved to a nearby hospital and is currently receiving treatment in an unconscious state.

It is reported that no signs of criminal suspicion were found at the scene.

Kang debuted as a child actress at the age of 4 and made a mark in the history of popular cinema by winning the Best Actress award at the Venice International Film Festival in 1987 for the film "Sibari" and the Best Actress award at the Moscow Film Festival in 1989 for "Aje Aje Bara Aje."

From 2015 to 2017, she also served as co-executive director of the Busan International Film Festival. This year, she was set to make a comeback with director Yeon Sang-ho's film "Jung-E."
