[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Former People Power Party Gangwon Province gubernatorial pre-candidate Hwang Sang-mu has accepted the 'One-team' proposal from his primary rival, candidate Kim Jin-tae.

Kim Jin-tae's campaign team announced on the same day, "On the afternoon of the 27th, former pre-candidate Hwang visited Kim's campaign office in Wonju, Gangwon Province, and accepted Kim's offer to become the campaign committee chairman in the presence of members and supporters from both camps."

Both sides agreed to put aside all conflicts from the primary process and unite their efforts to focus entirely on changing the provincial administration.

Former pre-candidate Hwang said, "True regime change can only be achieved by successfully changing the provincial administration," adding, "I will do my best to sincerely assist in reclaiming the lost 12 years of Gangwon Province."

In response, candidate Kim said, "This allows us to overcome all conflicts during the primary and move forward on the path of unity and harmony, forming a solid lineup for victory in the June 1 local elections," and added, "Thanks to Hwang's graceful acceptance of the results, we can now immediately begin the full-scale general election campaign."

He continued, "Riding this momentum, we will accelerate the formation of the campaign committee and secure victory in the general election," pledging certain success.

Meanwhile, earlier that day, candidate Kim attended the 'Sangwol Gyeolsa Peace Life Release Pilgrimage' hosted by Woljeongsa Temple and visited former Jogye Order Chief Executive Monk Ja-seung and Abbot Jeong-nyeom, continuing his efforts to gain Buddhist support.

Candidate Kim announced pledges to expand support for the 'Odaesan Sagobon Hwanjiboncheo' and traditional temples.

Kim stated, "'Odaesan Sagobon Hwanjiboncheo' is an issue to be approached within the framework of 'cultural decentralization,' which is a key national agenda under the Yoon Suk-yeol administration being reviewed by the Presidential Transition Committee," adding, "We will focus Gangwon Province's capabilities to ensure that the Odaesan Sagobon Joseon Dynasty Annals and Uigwe can return to their original locations."

He further said, "Although Gangwon Province has many excellent traditional cultural heritages, the designation of traditional temples is relatively low compared to Chungcheong and Yeongnam/Honam regions," and added, "We will strive to have more traditional temples designated and expand support accordingly."
