[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Seoyul] The People Power Party has filed an injunction to suspend the effect of the 'Complete Removal of Prosecutorial Investigation Rights' (검수완박) bill, which passed the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee's agenda adjustment subcommittee on the 26th.

On the 27th, Jeon Juhye, a member of the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee, stated in front of the National Assembly plenary session hall, "We have just submitted an injunction to suspend the effect of the agenda adjustment subcommittee's resolution made yesterday to the Constitutional Court."

Jeon said, "As you know, Min Hyungbae resigned from the Democratic Party and became an independent, and he came to the agenda adjustment subcommittee as a member representing the opposition. The agenda reviewed yesterday (at the Legislation and Judiciary Committee's agenda adjustment subcommittee) involved two bills originally proposed by Min as a Democratic Party member, but he participated again as an opposition member, which directly violates the purpose of the agenda adjustment subcommittee." She added, "We received legal advice from a lawyer formerly of the Constitutional Court that this part is illegal and invalid."

The National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee, after approving the so-called 'Complete Removal of Prosecutorial Investigation Rights' bill?separating prosecutorial investigation and indictment powers (amendments to the Prosecutors' Office Act and the Criminal Procedure Act)?with a majority vote at the agenda adjustment subcommittee late the previous night, passed the bill in the full committee meeting at dawn through a standing vote solely by Democratic Party members.

Under the decision of Park Gwangon, chairman of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee from the Democratic Party, the agenda adjustment subcommittee included six members: Democratic Party members Kim Jinpyo, Kim Namguk, and Lee Sujin; People Power Party members Yoo Sangbeom and Jeon Juhye; and independent member Min Hyungbae. Among them, Min recently left the Democratic Party to become independent with the intention of participating in the agenda adjustment subcommittee.
