원본보기 아이콘[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyun-joo] Former Saenuri Party lawmaker Jeon Yeo-ok criticized Lee Jun-seok, the leader of the People Power Party, who put a brake on the legislation for 'Geomsu Wanbak (complete removal of prosecutorial investigation rights)'.
On the 26th, former lawmaker Jeon wrote on her Facebook, "Leader Lee was clearly informed of and agreed to the mediation proposal regarding Geomsu Wanbak," adding, "Are you now saying that you just realized that (the Geomsu Wanbak legislation) is a 'burden on the people' and a 'big win for criminals'?"
She continued, "Leader Lee changed his stance to 'absolutely oppose Geomsu Wanbak' after saying, 'I spoke with Han Dong-hoon, the nominee for Minister of Justice,'" and added, "This is probably an attempt to deflect attention from his own disciplinary situation at the party ethics committee. In other words, it seems he sent an SOS through nominee Han to President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol, saying, 'Please do something to save me,'" she sarcastically remarked.
She then emphasized that political reform is more necessary than Geomsu Wanbak. Former lawmaker Jeon said, "It has been a long time since the political world made a fuss over prosecutorial reform, but what they ended up with is Geomsu Wanbak, which is shameless," adding, "What is truly needed is political reform. Especially, reform of the well-being party 'People Power' that excludes 'People's Power' is urgent. The Democratic Party is already disintegrating anyway," she sharply criticized.
On the same day, former lawmaker Jeon continued her criticism of Leader Lee on YTN Radio's 'Lee Jae-yoon's News Face-off.' She said, "It has been confirmed that Leader Lee received the mediation proposal in advance and agreed to it. So, Leader Lee clearly gave the okay on the mediation proposal," adding, "Then, as public opinion boiled over like hot lava, he said, 'The Supreme Council will overturn the mediation proposal,' and 'I spoke with nominee Han.' That's why the Democratic Party is saying, 'Is he Han Dong-hoon's avatar?'" she pointed out.
Former lawmaker Jeon described Leader Lee's putting a brake on the mediation proposal as an extremely unusual event. She said, "There is no case where something passed by the party caucus is overturned by the Supreme Council. It is a very unusual situation," explaining, "Legislative power in Yeouido comes from the badge. Leader Lee, who does not have a badge, has tremendous limitations in that regard." She also said, "Leader Lee is currently referred to the party ethics committee over allegations related to sexual bribery. (Given this situation) the phrase 'Leader Lee's deflection' is being used," adding, "In my view, Leader Lee seems to have sent a kind of distress signal through nominee Han, who is considered President-elect Yoon's most reliable partner. Something like, 'I'm referred to the ethics committee, so please save me,'" she claimed.
