[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The campaign of Kim Dong-yeon, the Democratic Party candidate for Governor of Gyeonggi Province, has strongly urged Yoon Seok-yeol, the president-elect, to stop interfering in the local elections.
On the 27th, Kim Dong-yeon's campaign issued a press release stating, "Ahead of the June 1 local elections, President-elect Yoon toured Seongnam and Yongin in Gyeonggi Province and Incheon, holding consecutive luncheons with People Power Party local election candidates," adding, "Although the president-elect's (election support) activities remain a blind spot under the current Public Official Election Act, they do not align with the public's sense of justice."
They continued, "After sending 'assassin' candidate Kim Eun-hye to Gyeonggi Province, perhaps out of distrust, the president-elect's regional tours and luncheons with candidates constitute blatant electioneering," criticizing it as "a tailored campaign for local election candidates."
