[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Park Hye-ja, a preliminary candidate for Gwangju Superintendent of Education, extended her congratulations on the 27th to Kang Ki-jung, who was confirmed as the Democratic Party candidate for Gwangju Mayor.

In a press release, Candidate Park stated, "Gwangju wanted change, and Kang Ki-jung is at the forefront of that wind of change," adding, "Candidate Kang, along with Kim Dae-jung, Roh Moo-hyun, Moon Jae-in, and Lee Jae-myung, dreamed of a new world, and I, Park Hye-ja, stood with the Democratic Party."

Candidate Park said, "Having endured crises together without wavering at critical moments, the joy of this victory is greater than anyone else's," and added, "With Candidate Kang's victory, I have high hopes that we can protect Gwangju education together from the entrenched conservative forces."

She further stated, "Gwangju stands before a great wind of change for future education," and added, "For the bright future of Gwangju education, for creating a virtuous cycle ecosystem in Gwangju education, and to truly empower our children to live their futures, I hope you will continue to stand with us unwaveringly as you have."

Inside and outside the education sector, it is interpreted that ahead of the superintendent of education election, which has no party nomination, Candidate Park sent a 'love call' using 'congratulatory greetings on election' as leverage to seek support from Kang's supporters.

Jeong Se-gyun, former Speaker of the National Assembly and chairman of Candidate Park's support committee, has a connection with Candidate Kang, having attended and given a congratulatory speech at Kang's campaign office opening ceremony.
