[Imsil=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Nosik] Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk is accelerating the revitalization of the cheese-utilizing food processing industry.
On the 27th, according to the county, Woorichon (CEO Hwang Young-tae), located in Gangjin-myeon, held a commemorative event announcing the completion and full-scale operation of the 'Cheese Gochujang Processing Factory' using Imsil cheese.
The commemorative event was attended by about 100 residents including the county governor of Imsil-gun, who toured the newly completed production facilities and shared expectations and congratulations.
This event was held as a completion ceremony that could not be held earlier due to COVID-19, and Woorichon promoted it to foster harmony with local residents.
With the full-scale operation of Woorichon's second factory, the cheese gochujang processing factory, it is expected to emerge as a premium food company in South Korea.
Woorichon has been producing traditional fermented sauces such as doenjang and gochujang using domestic rice, red pepper powder, and other agricultural products since 2004.
The cheese gochujang processing factory was completed with a total project cost of about 700 million KRW, including a subsidy of 308 million KRW and a self-funded amount of 375 million KRW, to specialize in producing gochujang using patented Imsil cheese manufacturing technology.
This factory is expected to produce up to 2 tons of cheese gochujang per day, with annual sales projected at 4 billion KRW.
By using local agricultural products including 1.3 billion KRW worth of Imsil cheese, it is expected to greatly contribute to increasing farmers' income and revitalizing the local economy through job creation by employing local residents.
Hwang Young-tae, CEO of Woorichon, said, "Many food companies such as Nongshim and Daesang have shown great interest in cheese gochujang, and recently we have received proposals for overseas exports. We will create the best products that suit the tastes of people worldwide and become a premium fermented sauce company representing South Korea."
A county official said, "We hope that the completion of the cheese gochujang processing factory will revitalize various food processing industries using Imsil cheese. We will continue to strive to expand the scope and enhance the competitiveness of the Imsil cheese industry through the production of various processed foods using cheese and research and development of new products."
