Suncheon-si Sewerage Fee Reduction for Users with Septic Tanks Installed in Combined Sewer Areas

[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City in Jeollanam-do announced on the 27th that, according to the revised "Suncheon City Sewerage Ordinance," it will reduce the sewerage monthly usage fee by 10% for households with septic tanks installed within the combined sewer system treatment area.

The city promoted the ordinance revision, which was promulgated and enforced on the 8th, to resolve the double burden of annual septic tank cleaning costs and monthly sewerage fees for households with private sewage treatment facilities such as septic tanks installed in the combined sewer system treatment area.

The sewerage fee reduction target is households that have installed private sewage treatment facilities such as septic tanks within the combined sewer system treatment area. To receive the fee reduction, a sewerage fee reduction application form must be submitted.

Applications can be made by visiting the Suncheon City Hall Civil Service Office or by fax, and after reviewing the eligibility, the reduction will be applied from the month including the application date.

A Suncheon City official stated, "Through this ordinance revision, we have resolved the unfairness of citizens having to bear a double burden," and added, "We hope all eligible households apply without omission to receive the sewerage fee reduction."
