[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Lee Sang-ik, the preliminary candidate for mayor of Hampyeong County from the Democratic Party of Korea, stated on the 27th that in order to secure a stable sales network for agricultural, livestock, and fishery products produced in Hampyeong County, it is necessary to establish various sales channels that break away from the current distribution structure.
Lee Sang-ik, the preliminary candidate for mayor of Hampyeong County, observed an online shopping mall operation training held at the Agricultural Technology Center on the same day and said, "There is a lack of distribution facilities and methods where farmers and consumers can trade directly, which limits the sales channels for local agricultural products," adding, "Measures are needed to guarantee stable income for farmers and provide fresh agricultural, livestock, and fishery products to consumers at reasonable prices."
He continued, "Due to COVID-19, modern lifestyles and purchasing habits have shifted towards active online shopping rather than direct purchases," and urged, "I hope that through this training, you will gain knowledge about operating internet shopping malls and establish yourself as a representative entrepreneur distributing Hampyeong’s agricultural, livestock, and fishery products or goods."
The preliminary candidate plans to support the installation of local food direct stores and the activation of TV home shopping, online shopping malls, Hampyeong Cheonji Mall, Namdo Market, and Post Office shopping malls as part of the core projects of the 8th local government term to improve the distribution structure of agricultural, livestock, and fishery products, establish diversified sales channels, and secure stable sales routes.
He also intends to focus on expanding export networks to China, Hong Kong, and Southeast Asia to secure sales channels for high-quality strawberries and Shine Muscat grapes produced in Hampyeong County.
The candidate added, "We plan to create a specialized restaurant street for Hampyeong Cheonji Korean beef and eel, local specialties, to attract tourists," and further stated, "Moreover, we will continuously promote the development of a high value-added agricultural, livestock, and fishery industry through the sixth industrialization that not only covers primary and secondary industries such as production farms and processing industries but also utilizes these to create tourism products."
