[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] NH Investment & Securities is establishing a local subsidiary in London to strengthen its global investment banking (IB) business.

NH Investment & Securities announced on the 27th that it has launched its London local subsidiary, NH Investment and Securities Europe. Through the establishment of the local subsidiary, the company plans to expand its global IB business in Europe and North America.

The launch ceremony was attended by CEO Jung Young-chae, Vincent Thomas Kivini Rodmeyer (Mayor of the London Financial District), Ambassador Kim Geon of the Republic of Korea to the UK, Lady Rodmeyer, and other prominent local guests. Key figures from the European financial sector, including Octopus Group and Deutsche Asset Management, also participated.

Since 2015, NH Investment & Securities has focused on discovering alternative products through its London office. It has directly sourced European local infrastructure and real estate deals such as Cadent Gas in 2017, loans to a Spanish football club, Cory Riverside Energy in 2018, and Gatwick Airport in 2019, supplying them to domestic institutional investors.

After the decision to establish the corporation in October 2020 and completing local licensing preparations, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in the UK completed its preliminary review earlier this year, and on the 6th, the company received a securities business license with a capital of USD 30 million.

NH Investment & Securities’ London local subsidiary plans to continue expanding its network through global IB partnerships, developing into a global IB hub covering not only Europe but also North America.

Through the London subsidiary, NH Investment & Securities also plans to continue serving as the overseas vanguard for NongHyup Financial Group. As the only European subsidiary within the financial holding company, it will provide timely information and participate in local joint investments, playing a key role within the group. To this end, the local subsidiary will reinforce its sales personnel responsible for real estate, infrastructure, and acquisition finance alongside existing office staff, and in the mid to long term, plans to expand its overall business including equity and bond brokerage, fund sales contracts, and asset management.

At the launch ceremony, NH Investment & Securities CEO Jung Young-chae emphasized, "To ensure the early establishment of the London local subsidiary, we will strengthen the deal sourcing competitiveness of the local subsidiary by closely cooperating with the headquarters’ IB department under a global One Book strategy that utilizes the headquarters’ abundant financial resources equally in the local market."
