[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] The Mapo Cultural Foundation (CEO Song Jeyong) announced on the 27th that it is recruiting seat donors for Art Hall Mac at Mapo Art Center, which has been newly renovated into a grand theater with 1,004 seats.
Established in 2008, the Mapo Cultural Foundation operates the Mapo Art Center, which includes a grand theater, small theater, gallery, studio, and sports center. To address aging facilities and increased demand for performances, remodeling was completed by December last year, starting in August 2020.
In line with the reopening of Mapo Art Center, the Mapo Cultural Foundation is launching the 'Seat Donation' project to foster a healthy culture of art donations. The seat donation project involves engraving the donor's name and message in the lobby or seats of the grand theater Art Hall Mac according to the donation amount.
The seat donation options include a seat nameplate type (500,000 KRW) where a nameplate is attached to the desired seat in Area B of Art Hall Mac, and a lobby plaque type (1,000,000 KRW) where a bronze plaque is attached in the Art Hall Mac lobby. Donors can also receive benefits such as a 30% discount on planned performances (for 5 years, up to 5 times annually) and tax deduction benefits through issuance of donation receipts. The donations will be used for projects promoting culture and arts, and usage details will be disclosed on the website.
Song Jeyong, CEO of the Mapo Cultural Foundation, said, "I believe that excellent performances are created together by the actors on stage, the people behind the scenes, and above all, the audience filling the seats, which is why we decided to promote seat donations." He added, "Through seat donations, we want to foster a healthy culture of art donations and create a performance venue where the audience becomes the main protagonist."
