[Asia Economy Reporter Yoon Seul-gi] In a park in Incheon, a dog inhaled an unidentified white powder and collapsed, prompting the police to launch an investigation. This park was previously embroiled in controversy in January when sausages with fishing hooks were found there.

According to the Bupyeong Police Station in Incheon on the 26th, a report was received by 112 around 6:30 PM the previous day that a dog walking in Bupyeong Park, Bupyeong-gu, Incheon, inhaled a white powder and then collapsed.

The dog's owner, Mr. A, posted on an online community, "The dog inhaled white powder sprinkled on the grass, vomited four times, then foamed at the mouth and collapsed," adding, "It is currently hospitalized in the intensive care unit, fighting for its life." Mr. A also shared photos of the grass area where the white powder was sprinkled.

The police have requested the National Forensic Service to analyze the composition of the powder and plan to investigate the exact circumstances of the incident. The police stated, "We are analyzing the closed-circuit television (CCTV) around the park," and "We will investigate whether there has been a violation of the Animal Protection Act."

Meanwhile, on January 16th, sausages with fishing hooks were found in this park, causing controversy. At that time, the dog's owner said, "The sausage was among the fallen leaves, and when I dug it up because it seemed suspicious, it was hooked with a fishing hook and tied to a tree with fishing line," adding, "It seemed deliberately hidden under the leaves so that it would not be easily seen by people but could be found by dogs through smell."

He continued, "The thought that a dog might have eaten this is horrifying. It was tied to a tree in a dog park where many dogs walk, so it doesn’t seem like it was accidentally discarded," raising suspicions of malicious animal abuse, saying, "It seems like a malicious act knowing that many dogs come to this place."
