[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Kiwoom Asset Management has launched the world's first exchange-traded fund (ETF) that invests in the ETF industry itself.

Kiwoom Asset Management announced on the 26th that the 'KOSEF US ETF Industry STOXX' ETF has been listed. This product invests in asset management companies, index providers, exchanges, and others related to the US ETF industry.

It includes top market capitalization companies that meet market cap and trading volume criteria among the components of the 'STOXX USA Total Market Index' and have more than 50% of their revenue related to ETFs.

As of the end of last month, companies such as index providers Standard & Poor's Global (S&P GLOBAL), Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI), Chicago Mercantile Exchange Group (CME Group Inc), and BlackRock are included.

No Ah-reum, head of ETF Management Team 1 at Kiwoom Asset Management, explained, "As the ETF market grows, ETF industries are also growing together, and the profitability of related companies is improving. Companies related to the ETF industry have solid revenue models even in volatile market conditions."

Kiwoom Asset Management also revealed its future ETF launch strategy.

Kim Jong-hyup, head of Multi-Asset Management Headquarters at Kiwoom Asset Management, said, "Since there are many markets that cannot be fully captured by benchmarks, we plan to actively list active ETFs through collaboration with other departments within the company or other companies. In May, we plan to list the 'Heroes REITs Aegis Active ETF' in collaboration with real estate management company Aegis Asset Management."

Kiwoom Asset Management has been using 'Heroes' as the brand for active ETFs starting this year to differentiate from its existing ETF brand 'KOSEF.'

Kiwoom Asset Management aims to list the target date fund (TDF) 'Heroes TDF Series' in the first half of this year and is also preparing income-type ETFs such as domestic inflation-linked bond ETFs and global REITs active ETFs, as well as overseas theme ETFs.
