Kang Seok-ju, the current mayor of Tongyeong, will run for re-election as the mayoral candidate of Tongyeong in the local elections this June.

On the 26th at around 10 a.m., Mayor Kang visited the Tongyeong City Election Commission and completed his registration as a preliminary candidate for the Tongyeong mayoral election representing the Democratic Party of Korea.
He plans to start his official election campaign by paying respects at the Wonmun Park Memorial Tower and Chungnyeolsa Shrine.
From the 27th, he will visit island areas such as Saryang, Hansan, and Yokji, and afterwards, he plans to tour rural fishing villages including Sanyang-eup, Gwangdo, Dosan, and Yongnam-myeon.
A member of the election camp stated that since the party nomination has been confirmed, he will be active as an official candidate rather than a preliminary candidate.
Candidate Kang Seok-ju is scheduled to hold a press conference on May 2 to announce his aspirations for re-election and his key pledges.
