[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Gangwon Province announced on the 26th that "due to the continuous occurrence of violations at animal hospitals nationwide, a joint inspection will be conducted from the 27th of this month to the 13th of next month on the operational status of 77 animal hospitals within the province, together with the provincial Animal Quarantine Division, Animal Hygiene Testing Laboratory, and city and county authorities, to prevent the recurrence of the same or similar cases."

The inspection items include ▲ excessive medical treatment ▲ lending of veterinarian licenses and employment of unqualified persons to open animal hospitals ▲ appropriateness of prescription issuance ▲ maintenance and recording of medical records ▲ reporting of attending veterinarians and proper management of animal hospitals ▲ use of expired medications ▲ refusal to issue medical certificates or prescriptions, among others.

If violations such as failure to record medical details, excessive treatment, or misleading consumers through false or exaggerated advertisements are detected during the inspection, administrative measures such as suspension of veterinarian license validity will be taken.

To enhance the effectiveness of this inspection, the province plans to inspect 50% of all animal hospitals and conduct inspections of the remaining uninspected animal hospitals in the second half of the year.
