Every year, the Department of Oriental Painting organizes a Korea-China painting exhibition where master's and doctoral students, SIG course researchers, and faculty members participate to share the outcomes of their artwork research.
Under the theme "Being Myself - The Beginning of Change," this year's special exhibition features works by 12 Korean artists including Professors Jeong Hwang-rae, Lee Jong-pil, and Hwang Hyo-sil, as well as 22 Chinese artists such as Ha Wook-sung, Ha San-san, Lee Seol, Oh Hyo-cheong, Gyo Rak, and Yoo Jang-ryang.
Researchers from both countries explored changes in color ink creation manifested in landscape paintings, portraits, and color paintings, interpreting them through various formal languages of Oriental painting.
Professor Jeong Hwang-rae, head of the Department of Oriental Painting at Mokwon University and planner of the exhibition, stated, "The special exhibition will serve as a platform to share research outcomes derived from the diversity of contemporary painting creation in Korea and China." He added, "Above all, we expect that visitors to the exhibition will have the opportunity to explore the formal qualities of Oriental painting and expand their international artistic sensibilities."
