[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Tae-min] POSCO Engineering & Construction announced on the 26th that it has developed a system that allows electric vehicle charging from parking lot pillars separately from dedicated electric vehicle charging parking spaces within apartment complexes.

The ‘EV Charging Billing Outlet (EV Billing Outlet)’ installed on parking lot pillars by POSCO Engineering & Construction enables residents to check the charging fee immediately when charging with their own 220V charging cable. There is no need to wait in line at a separate charging booth or subscribe to a charging service, and the fee is conveniently integrated into the apartment management fee.

In particular, since electric vehicle charging is possible in general parking spaces equipped with the ‘EV Billing Outlet’ without a separate dedicated space, it can resolve inconveniences caused by residents occupying dedicated parking spaces or shortages of parking spaces. Additionally, a ‘charging time reservation system’ will be developed in the future to enable automatic nighttime charging at relatively cheaper ‘off-peak nighttime rates’ with simple settings compared to daytime rates.

Along with this, an ‘Electric Vehicle Charging Interlocking Platform’ has also been developed to manage chargers within the complex in an integrated manner. The ‘Electric Vehicle Charging Interlocking Platform’ not only allows checking available charging locations but also can be configured to automatically send warning messages from the management office if a vehicle that has finished charging at a rapid charging booth occupies the charger for a certain period, and impose an occupancy fee. This enables efficient operation and prevents unnecessary conflicts among residents.

Moreover, the ‘Electric Vehicle Charging Interlocking Platform’ can be accessed without location restrictions through the ‘Household Wallpad’ and the ‘The Sharp AiQ Home Mobile App.’ The user interface is designed to allow residents to easily check charger locations and status information within the complex, notifications for rapid charger completion and parking relocation requests, charging history, and monthly charging volume fluctuations and patterns at a glance.

POSCO Engineering & Construction plans to actively incorporate ESG concepts into apartment construction to focus its capabilities on building eco-friendly apartments that ensure environmental preservation and residents’ healthy lives. To solve the shortage of charging facilities, which is a barrier to the spread of eco-friendly vehicles, the company developed and will actively apply the ‘EV Billing Outlet.’

A POSCO Engineering & Construction official stated, “To become an eco-friendly apartment that protects the earth’s tomorrow, we will continue to listen to customers’ voices and proactively develop residential products that can respond to changing needs.”
