[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] The unions of 36 bus companies, which account for more than 40% of all buses in Gyeonggi Province, decided to postpone their strike after last-minute negotiations with the management on the 25th.

This decision came as the Gyeonggi Regional Automobile Labor Union (hereinafter referred to as the union), composed of the Gyeonggi Regional Automobile Union, the Gyeonggi Central Region Bus Union, and the Gyeonggi Regional Bus Union, agreed to withdraw their labor dispute adjustment application. Accordingly, the strike initially scheduled to start with the first bus on the 26th was temporarily called off.

On the 25th, one day before the planned strike, the union held a second adjustment meeting with the management representatives at the Gyeonggi Regional Labor Relations Commission (Ginoe) from 5:00 PM to 11:30 PM. During the meeting, Gyeonggi Province and the management expressed their intention to actively reflect the reality of low wages compared to nearby quasi-public transportation areas, raise the wage limits for drivers to enable a five-day workweek, and introduce late-night operation allowances and double-decker bus operation allowances in the "Gyeonggi Province Quasi-Public Transportation Cost Recalculation Research Project," the results of which are expected in September.
