[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Pocheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 25th that it has signed the "San-jeong Lake Myeongseong Mountain Cable Car Construction Project Implementation Agreement" along with the groundbreaking ceremony for the cable car construction project with ShinSol Co., Ltd.

The San-jeong Lake Myeongseong Mountain Cable Car (capacity 8 people, 46 cabins), which will operate on the section from San-jeong Lake Sangdong Parking Lot to Myeongseong-sang Eulsae Grass Colony (1.9 km), is scheduled for completion in 2024.

The city expects tourists to have opportunities for healing and experiences while enjoying the natural scenery of San-jeong Lake and Myeongseong Mountain.

The implementation agreement and groundbreaking ceremony were attended by Park Yoon-guk, Mayor of Pocheon, and Jung Jae-kyung, Chairman of ShinSol Co., Ltd.

Both parties agreed to concretize mutual cooperation and practical measures regarding the construction progress and future facility operation.

San-jeong Lake has grown into a major tourist destination in the metropolitan area, attracting 2 million visitors annually since it was first designated as a national tourist site in 1977.

The Myeongseong Mountain Cable Car Construction Project has faced many difficulties during the preparation process since 2015, including route selection and land exchange issues involving public forests, city-owned forests, and private land.

Park Yoon-guk, Mayor of Pocheon, said, "The San-jeong Lake Myeongseong Mountain Cable Car project will establish itself as a new landmark of Pocheon City," adding, "We expect the project to play a significant role in revitalizing the local economy."
