[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] The Advanced Medical Convergence Textile Center of Gyeongbuk Technopark held a presentation on the performance of the ‘Health and Safety Textile Material Industry and Ecosystem Development Project’ on the 25th at the Daegu Inter-Burgo Hotel.

About 100 people, including beneficiary companies, executing institutions, and project stakeholders, attended this reporting session.

The event began with a keynote lecture titled ‘Comprehensive Achievements and Future Development Directions of the Regional Vitality Project’ by Professor Choi Jae-hong of Kyungpook National University, followed by a technical lecture on ‘Trends in Eco-friendly Textile Technology and Development’ by Principal Researcher Lim Sang-gyu of DGIST, and then presentations of program-specific achievements by beneficiary companies.

The health and safety textile industry is a textile industry aimed at personal hygiene, health preservation and promotion, safety, and life protection, and it also includes upstream and downstream industries related to materials, processing, and finished products that can directly or indirectly affect health and safety.

By material category, it can be divided into ▲hygienic medical ▲quarantine protection ▲safety materials and human-friendly functional textile materials.

The Health and Safety Textile Material Industry Ecosystem Development Project was part of the ‘Regional Vitality Project’ promoted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and Gyeongbuk Province, led by Gyeongbuk Technopark, with participation from regional innovation institutions such as the Korea Textile Machinery Convergence Institute and the Korea Textile Development Institute.

This project diagnosed the characteristics of the textile industry, a key industry in the Gyeongbuk region, and provided a comprehensive corporate support program tailored to the region, including prototype production, product upgrading, process improvement, certification support, and marketing support.

In particular, 115 cases of support were provided to textile companies for prototype production and process improvement.

The beneficiary companies achieved sales of approximately 22.6 billion KRW and net employment of 107 people, showing excellent results that were 2.8 times and 2.3 times higher than the initial targets of 8 billion KRW and 45 people, respectively.

Ha In-seong, President of Gyeongbuk Technopark, said, “This was a joint result of executing institutions and local companies to overcome the stagnation of the regional textile industry and revitalize it. We will continue to strive to achieve high value-added development of the Gyeongbuk textile industry through timely and appropriate support.”
