At the vision declaration ceremony held on the 22nd, all members of the university, including students, professors, staff, and the alumni association, gathered in one place to present the new vision and reaffirm their determination for a fresh start.
During the ceremony, Yeungnam University presented a blueprint for achieving its educational goals for the next 75 years and shared specific development plans with its members.
The new vision proposed by Yeungnam University is “A Creative and Innovative University Contributing to the Prosperity of Human Society,” which signifies creating shared values for global coexistence, contributing to the prosperity of human society, and leading creativity and innovation by breaking away from existing university systems and practices.
Additionally, the university suggested “Sharing,” “Service,” and “Creativity” as core values to cultivate the human society community.
To achieve this vision, Yeungnam University set innovation goals in five major areas: educational innovation, management strategy, industry-academic research, international education, and the medical center. These goals include ▲establishing an education innovation system prioritizing education consumers ▲ensuring continuous stabilization and strengthening future competitiveness of the university ▲driving university growth through innovation in industry-academic research ▲solidifying and diversifying the international education system ▲and creating a foundation for the development of the medical center. The university plans to actively promote these goals by establishing 15 innovation strategies and detailed implementation tasks.
Last year, Yeungnam University members also gathered in the same place to declare joint cooperation among members to overcome the university’s survival crisis and achieve sustainable development, demonstrating the unity of the university community.
Choi Oe-chul, president of Yeungnam University, said, “Since its founding in 1947, Yeungnam University has realized the founding spirit of ‘nurturing pillars for national revival’ for 75 years and has grown alongside the development of the Republic of Korea. The university will now raise the sails of its new vision as ‘A Creative and Innovative University Contributing to the Prosperity of Human Society’ and foster ‘dignified talents leading the development of advanced countries’ and ‘talents contributing to human society.’”
