The event, organized to declare the commitment to carry out ESG management activities during the nuclear power plant construction project and to encourage the participation of stakeholders, was attended by executives and employees of KHNP and nuclear power plant construction participants, as well as local residents.
At the event, KHNP pledged to carry out the nuclear power plant construction project without delay and to lead climate change by implementing eco-friendly policies such as waste reduction throughout the entire construction process, from design to procurement, manufacturing, and construction.
There are plans to develop the Shin-Kori Units 5 and 6 nuclear power plant site into a world-class landmark by creating an APR1400 theme park utilizing eco-friendly green infrastructure and a renewable energy specialized complex.
KHNP also committed to practicing safety-first management by strengthening safety management so that workers can work with peace of mind and expanding the 4th industrial safety management system. It aims to contribute to revitalizing the local economy through the utilization of local resources, expansion of cooperation projects with small and medium-sized enterprises, and creation of local jobs. Furthermore, KHNP plans to maintain and develop the nuclear power ecosystem by continuously supporting management activities through direct communication with partner companies participating in the construction.
To ensure transparent information disclosure and communication with the public, KHNP plans to expand the operation of the citizen participation group and to conduct education and evaluation to establish a culture of integrity and ethics at the construction site.
ESG stands for Environmental, Social, and Governance, which are non-financial factors of a company. Since last year, KHNP has established an ESG management strategy system and formed an ESG committee to begin full-scale ESG management activities.
Jaehoon Jeong, President of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, promised ESG management activities that prioritize safety and can be felt by the public in his congratulatory speech.
