[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Lee Byeongno, the Democratic Party preliminary candidate for Damyang County Governor, emphasized on the 24th, "For a city to be sustainable, creating spaces where residents can be happy must come first."


The candidate stated, "I will transform Damyang-eup, which is aging, into a smart city through innovative design rather than simple road-widening type regeneration, focusing on expanding urban infrastructure."


He added, "Although new apartment constructions are continuously taking place mainly in Damyang-eup recently, the insufficient urban infrastructure is rather increasing inconvenience."


He further emphasized, "While actively expanding the lacking social infrastructure centered on Damyang-eup, we will introduce future-oriented policies that guarantee residents' participation, and establish an advanced smart city development strategy that integrates and connects ICT technology, roads, buildings, and other construction infrastructure."


Along with this, he presented a blueprint to "create happy village spaces through differentiated urban regeneration strategies for each eup and myeon."


He plans to introduce various smart systems centered on Damyang-eup.


These include actively adopting smart trash bins using IoT (Internet of Things) sensors, smart drone safety guardians, AI (Artificial Intelligence) robot care services, smart tourism platforms and services.


In addition, he plans to carry out county administration that protects residents' health along with happy residential spaces by creating garden-forest type sports facilities and sports towns that actively reflect Damyang's ecological value.


Candidate Lee Byeongno stated, "Innovative urban regeneration is urgent to secure competitiveness as a city of 70,000 beyond recovering 50,000," and added, "We will create a sustainable Damyang by guaranteeing happy living spaces for residents and building a future-oriented smart city system."
