[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Seoul City announced on the 26th that it will operate an online event called ‘Dongnyangjijae Children's Gatekeeper Experience,’ where children can learn about the military system of the Joseon Dynasty and the grandeur of the Su-mun-gun (Gate Guard Troops) through play, in celebration of the 100th Children's Day.
This ‘Dongnyangjijae Children's Gatekeeper Experience’ is an event where children, who will become the future pillars of our country, can directly enjoy three experience kits themed around the royal palace gatekeepers, and through this, learn about the royal palace gatekeepers and, further, the strength of the Joseon military system.
Seoul City is accepting applications until the 27th on the Royal Palace Gatekeeper Changing Ceremony website, selecting 250 children by lottery from the applicants to participate in the event, and will deliver the ‘Dongnyangjijae Children's Gatekeeper Experience Kits’ to the applicants' homes by May 4th.
On Children's Day, May 5th, starting from 10 a.m., a video will be released on the Seoul Royal Palace Gatekeeper YouTube channel where participants can learn about the history of the royal palace gatekeepers and assemble the experience kits together, allowing participants to enjoy the experience with their families at home. Additionally, throughout May, the month of family, Seoul City will hold ‘One-day Pasugun (Guard Troops) Experience’ and ‘Hunlyeondogam Traditional Martial Arts Events’ every Saturday at Sungnyemun.
