[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Park Jonghun, a preliminary candidate for Superintendent of Education of Gyeongnam, held the first policy announcement press conference on future education at the Gyeongnam Office of Education briefing room on the 25th.

Park, who is running for a third term, said, "We are at a time when we must take a step forward with advanced country-style education befitting a developed country ranked 10th in the world by GDP," adding, "By utilizing the nation's first big data-AI platform iTalkTalk, Gyeongnam education will lead the future education of South Korea."

He emphasized that the Gyeongnam-type future school Happy School, which started with 11 schools in 2015, has increased to 118 schools this year, the Future Education Theme Park is scheduled to be completed in December, and with iTalkTalk and one laptop per student, Gyeongnam's future education has already begun.

Park proposed the following pledges: ▲Starting the nation's first big data and AI-based future schools ▲Fostering future-oriented talents equipped with self-directedness, problem-solving skills, and collaboration abilities through the IB curriculum and smart classroom construction ▲Resolving educational gaps and promoting education that does not give up through basic academic support centers and online classrooms.

He said, "We will introduce and pilot the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum, realize school education that reflects the characteristics of regions and schools, and considers student diversity."

He also promised to establish a big data-AI-based career education center, operate an integrated counseling center for parents, diversify career experience programs for students with special education needs, reduce the number of students per class, distribute smart devices and VR equipment for teachers, strengthen coding education, train teachers responsible for basic academic skills, and open advanced courses for iTalkTalk.

Park appealed for support, saying, "Anyone can talk about future education, but not everyone can create future education. Only Park Jonghun, who has researched, prepared, and worked hard for the past eight years, can complete future education."

He said, "Putting down the superintendent position temporarily and going to the field to hear harsh criticism and receive encouragement has motivated me to do better and recharged my energy," adding, "I spend at least an hour talking and listening to parents and staff, refining myself, and preparing my attitude as a warrior for the election."

Park plans to continue policy announcements three times on the themes of future education, future care, future schools, and future education communities.
