The Ulsan City announced that the '2022 Taehwagang National Garden Citizen Gardeners Volunteer Activities' will take place around Taehwagang National Garden until December.

Citizen gardeners, voluntarily organized, will support garden facility maintenance and management once a week.

They participate in garden facility maintenance and management activities such as weeding, planting, and watering along garden paths and artist gardens, and serve as guides and promotional helpers at events including the Taehwagang Spring Flower Festival in May.

Additionally, they act as mentors as professional gardeners in children and family experience programs operated at the national garden, and participate in promotion and planting work to develop the naturalistic garden themed 'Garden of Five Seasons' into a garden tourism attraction.

An official from Ulsan City expressed pride, saying, "We hope that a healthy garden culture at Taehwagang National Garden will be formed led by citizens," and added, "Not only citizen gardeners but also general citizens enjoy leisure and relaxation at the national garden while cultivating the garden together."

Citizen gardeners are individuals who have completed expert gardener training courses at garden education institutions or organizations, enabling them to work as garden experts for the management of gardens and green spaces throughout the city after training.

Since 2016, Ulsan City has produced a total of 161 citizen gardeners over five cohorts to spread garden knowledge and culture.
