The Korea Craft & Design Cultural Promotion Agency (Director Kim Taehoon) announced on the 25th that it will open the traditional play cultural space 'Woori Noliteo Yangju.' Woori Noliteo is a traditional play cultural space created as part of the traditional play culture creation and expansion project.
Last September, the agency selected the Yangju City Hoam Site Museum as the final location through a public contest for the traditional play cultural space 'Woori Noliteo.' The Hoam Site Museum is a municipal museum located in Yangju, Gyeonggi Province, built on the site of Hoamsa, the largest royal temple in the early Joseon Dynasty, and houses historical relics.
'Woori Noliteo Yangju' will utilize the lobby space on the first floor of the Hoam Site Museum. It is composed of Woori Nori Maru, where visitors can enjoy various modernized traditional play contents such as Sanjagi, Gonu, Yutnori, Silttugi, and Gonggi Nori, and Woori Nori Madang, where visitors can experience digital spinning top play.
Since opening last year, 'Woori Noliteo Goyang' at the Goyang Children's Museum and 'Woori Noliteo Gyeongju' at the Gyeongju Expo Park have welcomed about 90,000 visitors over approximately seven months who enjoyed traditional play.
The agency plans to continuously establish a foundation where traditional play can be enjoyed anywhere by developing and distributing modernized traditional play content and expanding the traditional play cultural space 'Woori Noliteo.'
An agency official said, “In collaboration with the National Folk Museum, we are preparing a new 'Woori Noliteo' and a planned sales exhibition reflecting the continuous demand for traditional play. We will make steady efforts to discover and distribute various contents so that traditional play can be easily and closely enjoyed in our daily lives.”
