Professor Choi Ji-yoon of Chosun University Hospital Publishes Research Paper on 'Facial Muscles' in International Journal 원본보기 아이콘


[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jin-Hyung Park] Professor Ji-Yoon Choi of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at Chosun University Hospital recently published a paper titled “Dynamic Evaluation of Facial Muscles through 3D Skin Displacement Vector Analysis Using a Face Painting Model” in the international journal Laryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology.


This paper analyzed facial muscles by capturing them with a 3D camera and studied the interaction and changes of facial muscles when making various expressions. It is expected to provide anatomical knowledge of facial muscle movements and greatly assist in establishing procedural and treatment directions.


Professor Ji-Yoon Choi recently established the “Facial Muscle Research Institute” and is conducting full-scale research on facial muscles.


Meanwhile, Professor Choi is actively engaged as an international facial plastic and reconstructive specialist and international cosmetic plastic surgery specialist. She serves as an executive director of the Korean Otorhinolaryngological Society, executive director of the Korean Rhinologic Society, executive director of the Korean Society of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and vice president of the Korean Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.


Additionally, through active research in rhinoplasty and facial reconstructive fields of the Korean Otorhinolaryngological Society, she has published numerous excellent papers in various domestic and international journals, including the American Journal of Facial Plastic Surgery. She has also been recognized for her research achievements in developing original surgical techniques and instruments, such as patenting the “septal extension graft” and “costal cartilage harvesting device” necessary for rhinoplasty.
