[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] CJ OnStyle announced on the 25th that it has significantly reduced the latency of live commerce broadcast streaming through technical collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS). The company explained that by adopting new technology, it has enhanced real-time customer interaction functions while improving video quality compared to before.
CJ OnStyle greatly shortened the live broadcast latency on its live commerce channel. While it previously took up to 30 seconds for the broadcast from the CJ OnStyle studio to reach viewers, it now delivers to viewers in about 3 seconds. This improvement strengthens the biggest advantage of live commerce?real-time customer communication?and enables more vivid broadcasts.
By internally developing technology through its IT department and collaborating with AWS, CJ OnStyle reduced streaming latency while enhancing video quality. CJ OnStyle stated, "We are the first in the home shopping industry to adopt the live streaming solution 'Amazon IVS (Amazon Interactive Video Service)' and developed optimal technology to apply it to the domestic mobile broadcasting environment and CJ OnStyle’s internal systems." They added, "Through this, we have realized low-latency mobile live commerce broadcasts in full HD quality."
CJ OnStyle plans to strengthen real-time communication with live commerce viewers based on this advancement. The speed of viewers’ chat responses to hosts’ comments will increase, and real-time events such as first-come-first-served and popup quizzes will also be activated. Through this, the goal is to simultaneously increase customer participation in broadcasts and shopping satisfaction.
Lee Young-ah, Head of DT Promotion at CJ OnStyle, said, "CJ OnStyle is striving to provide a positive shopping experience to customers using live commerce, which has emerged as a major distribution channel." She added, "We plan to continuously introduce and develop new mobile and digital broadcasting technologies to enhance customer shopping satisfaction."
