[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Gmarket and Auction are publicly recruiting sellers to participate in the year’s biggest shopping festival, ‘Big Smile Day,’ which will be held for 12 days from the 16th to the 27th of next month, until the 8th of next month.


Sellers who wish to participate in Big Smile Day can apply by accessing 'ESM+,' the sales management site of Gmarket and Auction, and filling out the participation application form. Any Gmarket or Auction seller who has a business registration certificate and is active on ESM+ by the end of March can participate.


In line with the Big Smile Day application period, advertising costs will also be supported for selling customers. This event provides e-money worth 250,000 KRW, which can be used for ‘Power Click Easy Registration Ads.’ Sellers who are new to Power Click ads on Gmarket and Auction or who have stopped using them for a year can apply to receive the e-money.


Now in its 9th edition, Big Smile Day is the largest online shopping event held twice a year in May and November by Gmarket and Auction. It has established itself as the biggest e-commerce shopping festival attracting both consumers and the industry by offering products from big brand companies as well as small and medium sellers who have just started online sales with exceptional benefits. In fact, the cumulative sales volume over eight events from November 2017 to November last year reached 230.51 million units. Especially, about 30,000 sellers participated in the Big Smile Day held last November, achieving sales of 25.43 million units over 12 days. The average daily number of visitors increased by 12%, and the number of orders increased by 42%.


Big Smile Day is a golden opportunity for participating sellers to record their highest sales ever. In fact, sales of participating sellers increased more than threefold on average over eight events, and the exposure rate of products to customers increased by up to 200% compared to usual. Seller A, who sells livestock products, saw sales surge by more than 20 times (1910%) compared to the previous month during the Big Smile Day held last November, and Seller B, who sells nutritional supplements, recorded explosive sales growth of more than 11 times (1088%).
