Macron Wins French Presidential Election... Secures Re-election

[Asia Economy New York=Special Correspondent Joselgina] Emmanuel Macron, President of France, won the presidential election held on the 24th (local time) and succeeded in securing a second term.

According to the daily The Guardian, major French polling agencies predicted that President Macron would lead with 57.6-58.2% of the vote, ahead of the far-right candidate Marine Le Pen of the National Rally (RN), who was expected to receive 41.8-42.4%.

The Guardian reported that President Macron became the second French president to win a second term and the first president in over 20 years to be re-elected.

Gabriel Attal, spokesperson for the French government, stated, "The French people chose him (President Macron) instead of Marine Le Pen," calling it "a historic result with historic responsibility." President Macron is expected to deliver a victory speech soon.
