원본보기 아이콘[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] Prosecutor General Kim Oh-soo explains his position on Speaker Park Byeong-seok's 'complete removal of prosecution's investigative authority (Geomsu Wanbak)' mediation proposal.
According to the Supreme Prosecutors' Office on the 24th, Prosecutor General Kim will hold a press briefing at 10 a.m. on the 25th at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office to clarify his stance on the mediation proposal. On the 22nd, after the ruling and opposition parties accepted Speaker Park's mediation proposal, Kim submitted his resignation taking responsibility for the situation. However, since his resignation has not yet been accepted, he still holds the position of Prosecutor General.
At the briefing, Kim is expected to explain that he was not aware of the details of Speaker Park's mediation proposal in advance. Within the prosecution, suspicions arose that since Kim met with Speaker Park on the 21st, the day before the mediation proposal was announced, he might have known the contents beforehand and agreed to them.
Immediately after the ruling and opposition parties reached an agreement on the mediation proposal, posts demanding explanations from Prosecutor General Kim were continuously uploaded on 'Eprose,' the prosecution's internal network.
