[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Guro-gu (Mayor Lee Seong) is recruiting restaurants in the area to participate in the facility improvement support project.
On the 23rd, Guro-gu announced, "To improve the hygiene level of food service establishments and provide residents with a safe dining environment, we will support the costs of facility improvements for general restaurants and ventilation facility cleaning."
The support targets about 35 general restaurants that have been operating for more than 12 months after registering their business in Guro-gu. Model restaurants, hygiene grade designated establishments, and safe restaurants will be given priority, while establishments that have received administrative sanctions such as business suspension within the past year, or have illegal buildings or local tax arrears, are excluded.
The support includes two types: facility improvement costs for repairing and replacing aging kitchen equipment such as washing and cooking facilities, replacing ventilation facilities, pest control and disinfection, repairing business and restroom facilities, handwashing facilities, etc., and cleaning costs for ventilation facilities such as fans, hoods, and ducts.
Facility improvement costs will be provided up to 1 million KRW for 15 establishments, and ventilation facility cleaning costs up to 500,000 KRW for 20 establishments. 80% of the facility improvement costs will be supported, and 20% must be self-funded.
Business owners who wish to apply should submit the application form, business plan, estimate, and other required documents to the Hygiene Division of Guro-gu Health Center by visiting in person or by mail by May 27. Detailed information can be found in the announcement section on the district office website.
Guro-gu will select supported establishments through document review, on-site investigation, and deliberation by the Food Promotion Fund and Local Subsidy Review Committee, and will notify the results individually. If the budget is exceeded, support recipients will be determined according to priority.
A Guro-gu official said, "This project is expected to alleviate the economic burden of general restaurant owners who are struggling due to COVID-19, improve facilities, and further contribute to revitalizing the local economy," and added, "We encourage many interested business owners to apply."
