[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Democratic Party of Korea has narrowed down the candidates for the Gwangju Seo-gu and Gwangsan-gu district mayor primaries to three each.
The Democratic Party's Gwangju City Party announced the candidates for the Seo-gu and Gwangsan-gu district mayor primaries on the 21st.
In the Seo-gu district mayor primary, candidates Kim Bohyeon, Kim Ikang, and Hwang Hyuntaek are competing in a three-way race. Candidate Bae Insu was cut off.
For the Gwangsan-gu district mayor, candidates Park Byungkyu, Yoon Nansil, and Choi Chihyun are competing for the top spot, while candidates Kim Hakshil, Yoon Bonggeun, and Lee Youngsoon, who applied for nomination, were eliminated.
The primary will be held on the 29th and 30th through a public participation primary (50% party members with voting rights and 50% general citizens).
On the same day, the city party also announced the candidates for the youth competitive election districts for metropolitan council members: Seo-gu District 3 and Gwangsan-gu District 4.
In Seo-gu District 3, candidates Na Kwangyeop, Lee Myeongno, and Choi Younghwan are competing, while in Gwangsan-gu District 4, candidates Kim Taekgon, Lee Gwisun, and Lee Hyeongcheol are competing.
This primary will be conducted through a citizen nomination jury system, where only jury panel votes are counted.
