[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] A total of 206 physical therapists, professors, and students in Gwangju declared their support for Kang Ki-jung, the Democratic Party of Korea's preliminary candidate for mayor of Gwangju Metropolitan City.
The Physical Therapists' Joint Participation Coalition held a support declaration ceremony at the Kangchu Camp on the afternoon of the 20th, stating, "Citizens desperately want a capable and confident leadership mayor for a new Gwangju," and added, "Kang Ki-jung, a young mayor in his 50s, is the one who can uphold the citizens' will that 'Gwangju must change rapidly' and confidently and swiftly open a new era for Gwangju."
They said, "Preliminary candidate Kang Ki-jung has served three terms as a member of the National Assembly and as the Senior Secretary for Political Affairs at the Blue House, handling both legislation and administration, and has a broad perspective to view Gwangju within South Korea and compare and analyze it with other local governments," emphasizing, "He is a candidate with a clear vision for a greater and more prosperous Gwangju."
They continued, "After reviewing TV debates and policies, we concluded that he is a candidate who has completed preparations to create a different 'Gwangju of opportunity' from the present," and added, "We support preliminary candidate Kang Ki-jung, who has valuable political experience from local to central government and has become an important political asset for Gwangju."
Finally, they appealed for support, saying, "Only preliminary candidate Kang Ki-jung, who has completed preparations in terms of people, policies, and future vision, can solve the issues of physical therapists such as visiting rehabilitation, as well as fulfill the 20 'Now It Can Be Done' pledges including a complex shopping mall, which Gwangju currently lacks."
