[Asia Economy Reporter Sim Nayoung] Shinhan Financial Group announced on the 21st that it held an orientation event to kick off the 2022 startup incubation program at 'Shinhan Square Bridge Incheon,' the group's startup incubation platform located in Songdo, Incheon.
As part of the group's mid- to long-term innovative finance platform project, the ‘Triple-K Project,’ Shinhan Financial has been fostering startups nationwide by establishing 'Shinhan Square Bridge' in Seoul, Incheon, Daegu, Jeju, and other locations since November 2020.
'Shinhan Square Bridge Incheon' selects startups in the deep tech, bio, healthcare, and smart city sectors and supports tailored incubation programs according to their growth stages. Additionally, through collaboration with public-private partners such as Incheon Metropolitan City, Celltrion, and Google Startup Campus, it operates various programs aimed at global expansion.
Shinhan Financial provides a total of 47 startups selected for incubation (16 companies) and global (31 companies) memberships with benefits for one year, including ▲free office space rental ▲dedicated fund investment ▲proof-of-concept support ▲strategic consulting ▲global commercialization support funds.
A Shinhan Financial official stated, "We have further advanced the incubation programs in each sector based on the know-how gained from operating 'Shinhan Square Bridge Incheon' over the past two years," adding, "Shinhan Financial will continue to do its best to support the creation of a startup ecosystem through systematic support programs."
'Shinhan Square Bridge Incheon' achieved results last year with 51 startups it nurtured attracting 70.5 billion KRW in investment and improving their average corporate value by 66%. Moreover, key participating startups were recognized domestically and internationally, including selection in the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ ‘Baby Unicorn 60’ in 2021, winning four categories of the ‘2022 CES Innovation Awards,’ and receiving the Presidential Award at the ‘Challenge K-Startup 2021.’
