[Asia Economy Reporter Seo Mideum] The National Library of Korea will hold the exhibition "Modern and Contemporary Poetry through Flowers, (You, Become a Flower to Me)" from the 25th at the exhibition hall and Open Yard on the first floor of the main building of the National Library of Korea.

This exhibition was prepared to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Kim Sowol's publication of "Azaleas (Gaebyeok·1922)" and the 100th birthday of "Poet of Flowers" Kim Chunsu, to widely promote the beauty of Korean poetry, and to share the value of the materials held by the National Library of Korea with the public.

First, 14 representative poems on the theme of flowers in modern and contemporary Korea are introduced in the order of their publication years. The exhibited works were selected through consultation with the Korean Poets Association. Explanations of the works and actual materials held by the library are displayed together.

Visitors can also enjoy media art works by artist Lee Inam, who expresses various poetic words and flower images on the theme of modern and contemporary flower poetry through video.

At the opening ceremony, artist Kim Jonggu will perform a performance writing flower poems with iron powder on a large 11-meter-long paper. This work, shown on the screen, feels like a moving landscape. This installation art piece can be viewed in the Open Yard on the first floor of the main building throughout the exhibition period.

The exhibition opening event will be held at 4 p.m. on the 25th in the Open Yard on the first floor of the National Library of Korea main building, featuring poetry recitation by poet Nataju and a performance by artist Kim Jonggu. General visitors can view the exhibition from the 26th until July 3rd.

A representative of the National Library of Korea stated, "This exhibition gathers modern and contemporary flower poems, which remain like a gift to us, in one place to enjoy them richly through visual, auditory, and olfactory senses, providing an opportunity to experience the flowers depicted in poetry on a new level," adding, "We hope it will be a healing moment welcoming a vibrant spring for our people who have passed through the COVID-19 pandemic."
