[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced on the 21st that it has opened an Employment Specialist Academy for company officials at the Kim Dae-jung Convention Center.
The academy is being promoted as part of the Gwangju regional innovation project hosted by Gwangju Metropolitan City and the Gwangju Regional Employment and Labor Office. It aims to strengthen the capabilities of employment service personnel through theoretical learning and case sharing on employment and labor market conditions and job policies, and to improve the employment rate in the region by providing better employment services.
Now in its seventh year, the Gwangju Employment Specialist Academy has produced about 310 employment specialists in the region so far, and over 50 people wished to participate in the 7th term. The curriculum consists of a total of seven sessions covering various topics related to jobs, including carbon neutrality, digital transformation, job changes due to AI technological advancements, and employment and labor policies expected to change after the inauguration of the new central administration and local elections.
In a lecture on job strategies of the central and local governments in the era of digital and green transition, Joo Moo-hyun, Senior Research Fellow at the Korea Employment Information Service, stated, “Since COVID-19, digital and green transitions have accelerated, causing a revolutionary change in the industrial structure,” emphasizing the urgent need for region-led economic and employment development strategies to respond to this.
Chae Hwa-seok, Executive Director of Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said, “As the Presidential Transition Committee has adopted the creation of a future job foundation through leading the 4th Industrial Revolution era as the direction for the next national administration, the role of the academy in broadening the understanding of industrial, economic, and employment policies among local employment and job officials is becoming increasingly important,” adding, “We will do our best to provide a platform for information sharing among local employment and job officials and to make it a practical learning space.”
