[Muju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hanho] Muju Taekwondowon has been selected as a ‘2022 New Wellness Tourism Destination’ organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization.

According to Muju-gun on the 21st, wellness is a compound word of well-being, happiness, and fitness, meaning a healthy state physically, mentally, and socially.

In particular, wellness tourism destinations have been selected by the Korea Tourism Organization since 2017 with themes such as beauty/spa, nature/forest healing, Korean medicine, and healing/meditation.

This year, a total of nine new places were selected, and Taekwondowon was chosen under the healing/meditation theme.

Accordingly, Muju-gun plans to attract tourists through various online and offline media such as SNS.

Facilities selected as wellness tourism destinations are known to receive various support from the Korea Tourism Organization, including domestic and international promotion, product development and improvement of accommodation facilities, and collaboration in wellness tourism festivals.

Also, with the lifting of social distancing, plans are being considered to link and revitalize local tourism resources such as Taekwondowon, Taekwon Meditation Forest, Deogyusan National Park, Gucheon-dong Eosagil Trail, Bandiland, and Hyangrosan Natural Recreation Forest.
