Daewoo E&C announced on the 21st that it will launch the 'Meta Gallery' service, a virtual experience model house utilizing a game engine.
Meta Gallery differs from the existing 'Metaverse Model House' or 'Cyber Model House.' The biggest difference is that users can navigate the virtual space themselves from a first-person perspective, as if playing a game, allowing them to view the products realistically.
Typical cyber model houses allow users to view products from specific points in each room (living room, bathroom, bedroom, etc.) designated by the construction company. Although users can look around the room with a 360-degree view from these set points, screen distortion occurs compared to seeing it with their own eyes, and movement outside the designated locations is not possible.
With the recent metaverse craze, some construction companies offer metaverse model house services, but there is still a significant gap compared to actually visiting a model house to see the products. This is because the avatar controlled by the user navigates the virtual space from a third-person perspective rather than a first-person perspective.
Daewoo E&C addressed the issues of existing services and enabled users to experience the model house as if they were visiting it in person by utilizing the Unity Engine for game development and three-dimensional BIM (Building Information Modeling) models.
Based on the 3D BIM model, realistic virtual space implementation became possible, and by using the Unity Engine, users can move their position and viewpoint in a first-person perspective like playing a game, interact by opening and closing doors, and more. Additionally, users can move through the space to check various sales option products, and verify whether items are for exhibition with just one click.
The application of the 3D BIM model to Meta Gallery is the first in the industry. The 3D BIM model is a high-capacity information data created for building design and construction, which is not easy to produce and utilize, and is typically used by professionals. By utilizing this model, Daewoo E&C increased the usability of BIM data and combined BIM with the game engine to deliver outstanding graphic performance.
Meanwhile, Meta Gallery will be first unveiled at the Suwon 'Yeongtong Prugio Tresence' and 'Yeongtong Prugio Pinever' complexes, scheduled for sale in early May.
