[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The candidate list for the Democratic Party of Korea's Gwangju City Council primary election has been announced.


The City Party Public Office Election Candidate Recommendation Management Committee (Gonggwanwi) held a meeting the day before and announced on the 21st the candidates for the June 1 local election Gwangju City Council primary election.


The primary candidates are Lee Hong-il, Choi Geum-dong, and Hong Gi-wol for Dong-gu District 1; Park Mi-jung and Choi Yeon-hwa for Dong-gu District 2; Kang Su-hoon and Jang Jae-sung for Seo-gu District 1; Myung Jin and Jeong Soon-ae for Seo-gu District 2; and Kim Gil-won, Kim Sang-hoon, Shin Jeong-ho, and Shim Cheol-ui for Seo-gu District 4.


Also, Park Sang-won, Seo Im-seok, Jeong Young-su, and Cheon Sin-ae for Nam-gu District 1; Kim Jeom-gi and Park Hee-yul for Nam-gu District 2; and Bae Jin-ha and Im Mi-ran for Nam-gu District 3 were selected as candidates.


In Buk-gu District 1, Ban Jae-shin and Ahn Pyeong-hwan; in Buk-gu District 3, Shin Su-jeong and Choi Ki-young; and in Buk-gu District 4, Lee Gwan-sik, Lee Jeong-cheol, and Jo Seok-ho will compete, while Kim Na-yoon is the sole candidate for Buk-gu District 6.


For Gwangsan-gu District 1, Park Se-hyang, Im I-yeop, and Choi Ji-hyun; for Gwangsan-gu District 2, Byeon Seong-il and Jeong Mu-chang; for Gwangsan-gu District 3, Kang Jang-won, Kim Jae-ho, and Park Pil-soon; and for Gwangsan-gu District 5, Park Su-gi, Lee Young-hoon, and Lee Jeong-hwan have been nominated for the primary election.


The youth competitive districts designated as Seo-gu District 3, Buk-gu District 2, Buk-gu District 5, and Gwangsan-gu District 4 are still undecided as reconsideration and other procedures are ongoing.


The metropolitan council primary election will be conducted through a party member primary (100% voting by party members with voting rights) and is scheduled to take place after next week's basic local government head primary election.


Two youth competitive districts will proceed with a citizen nomination jury primary election method, which is conducted solely by jury panel voting.
