[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-ho Kim] LG Electronics announced on the 21st that it has added Whisen air conditioners to its rental product lineup for customers who want to use premium home appliances through rental.
Accordingly, customers can use LG Whisen air conditioners by paying a fixed monthly fee without the burden of an initial purchase cost. Whisen air conditioner rental offers an evolved total care service compared to existing rentals. When customers apply for rental, they can receive not only product usage but also annual product management and inspection services provided by a service representative.
The LG Whisen air conditioner rental products are available in Platinum and Standard options. The Standard service includes ▲cleaning of the product exterior ▲performance inspection of refrigerant and outdoor unit ▲replacement of air purification filters ▲cleaning of dust sensors. The Platinum service includes all Standard services plus additional cleaning of hidden parts such as the heat exchanger and cooling fan using specialized equipment after disassembling the product.
The rental products include eight models, including the LG Whisen Tower Air Conditioner Objet Collection released this year. Based on a 6-year contract, the monthly fee for the Standard product ranges from 46,000 KRW to 129,000 KRW depending on the product, and for the Platinum product, it ranges from 52,000 KRW to 135,000 KRW. Customers who apply for rental of models larger than 20 pyeong by the end of next month will receive an LG PuriCare Mini air purifier as a gift.
Customers who purchase Whisen air conditioners with a lump-sum payment can separately apply for CareShip, a product management service. CareShip is available only for the Platinum service, and the monthly fee ranges from 15,000 KRW to 32,000 KRW depending on the product.
Meanwhile, LG Electronics is strengthening its rental business by providing rental services for a total of 12 types of products, including not only air conditioners but also water purifiers, air purifiers, dryers, stylers, and dishwashers. The cumulative number of rental accounts has increased by an average of 34% annually over the past four years, significantly contributing to the expansion of LG premium home appliances' user base.
Lee Jae-ho, Vice President and Head of LG Electronics Rental Caring Business Center, said, "In line with the subscription economy trend, we are expanding rental products so that more customers can use LG premium products," and added, "We will continue to strengthen rental services that provide innovative customer experiences."
