[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-ho Kim] LG Electronics announced on the 21st that the LG CLOi GuideBot is welcoming customers at Lotte Hotel World located in Jamsil, Seoul.

With the supply of this guide robot, LG Electronics plans to continuously expand contactless services using LG CLOi robots in collaboration with Lotte Hotel. The LG CLOi GuideBot provides information on the hotel's main facilities, promotions, and nearby tourist attractions in the hotel lobby, and serves as a docent explaining the artworks displayed in the lobby.

For example, when a customer searches for hotel amenities on the LG CLOi GuideBot's touchscreen, the robot provides necessary information such as location and directions through the screen and voice. It also sends facility-related information to customers via text messages. The service is available in English, Chinese, Japanese, and other languages for foreign tourists visiting the hotel.

The LG CLOi GuideBot can perform visitor guidance, advertising, security, and docent roles, and is operated in various spaces such as department stores, museums, observatories, subway stations, and hotels. Equipped with 27-inch displays on both the front and back, it acts as a personalized advertising board that follows customers, and through its built-in camera, it can also perform security tasks such as detecting entrants during late-night hours.

LG Electronics provides an integrated control system and continuous maintenance services along with LG CLOi robots. Administrators can remotely monitor the robot's status and manage installed content and operation schedules through the robot integrated control system.

Previously, LG Electronics supplied the LG CLOi ServeBot to Take Hotel in Gwangmyeong, Gyeonggi Province at the end of last year, and both the LG CLOi ServeBot and GuideBot to Hanwha Resort Seorak Sorano in Sokcho, Gangwon Province earlier this year. Recently, they also supplied a two-drawer LG CLOi ServeBot to Courtyard by Marriott Suwon Hotel in Gyeonggi Province, continuously expanding the supply of LG CLOi robots optimized for contactless hotel services.

According to a report released by the Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement (KIRIA) at the end of last year, the domestic service robot market size was approximately 860 billion KRW in 2020, an increase of about 35% compared to the previous year.

LG Electronics’ Robot Business Manager, Executive Director Kyu-chan Noh, emphasized, "LG CLOi robots are equipped with solutions optimized for hotels, ranging from one-on-one premium concierge services to contactless delivery services. We will deliver new customer experiences by leveraging LG’s differentiated robot solutions that can respond to customer needs in various spaces."
