[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] The police have launched a public investigation after a middle school student who left home to go to school in Gimpo-si, Gyeonggi Province, has been missing for 15 days.


According to the Gimpo Police Station in Gyeonggi on the 21st, a report was received at 8 a.m. on the 6th that a middle school student, A (15), went missing in Masan-dong, Gimpo-si. A's mother reported, "My son left home in the morning to go to school but did not attend."


It was confirmed that A left his mobile phone and card in the home mailbox when he left.


The police found that on the 12th, A made a call to his home from a public phone. During the call, A did not say anything and hung up after about 10 seconds.


The police tracked the incoming number and confirmed his last whereabouts on CCTV at Jakjeon Station in Gyeyang-gu, Incheon.


A's mother stated, "After my mother-in-law passed away last month, the child was mentally very distressed."


A is 175 cm tall and weighs 78 kg. At the time of disappearance, he was wearing a navy zip-up top, beige school uniform pants, and carrying a black backpack. A police official said, "Citizens who have seen A are asked to report to the police."
