[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] Korea P&G announced on the 21st that it has appointed Lee Ji-young, Vice President of Marketing at Korea P&G (44 years old), as the new CEO. The new CEO is the youngest Korean CEO in the company's history. The term begins on June 1.
Lee, who joined Korea P&G in 2000 as a marketing brand manager, has accumulated over 20 years of extensive brand strategy and marketing experience through various key positions in the Asia-Pacific region, including Japan, Singapore, and China. In particular, she served as the leader of the Asia-Pacific Fabric Home Care division for more than 10 years, successfully launching Downy fabric softener in the Korean market and significantly contributing to the growth of Downy and Febreze. Since last year, she has been serving as Vice President of Korea P&G, overseeing the marketing headquarters, and has been recognized for her outstanding leadership and insight while leading the Environmental Sustainability Task Force team.
The new CEO plans to lead Korea P&G by focusing on ▲sustainable innovation ▲localization of global products ▲and development of global talent. Her vision is to introduce various innovative products from P&G worldwide to consumers in the rapidly changing Korean market and to discover and nurture promising Korean talent to grow into global professionals.
Lee said, “I am very pleased and honored to be appointed as the head of the Korean market,” adding, “As a leading global consumer goods company, I will do my best to bring positive changes to the lives of Korean consumers and contribute to sustainable social growth.”
