[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Suwon City in Gyeonggi Province has introduced a 'Personal Information Leakage Prevention Solution.'

On the 21st, Suwon City announced that on the 20th, it installed a personal information leakage prevention solution on individual PCs that displays a watermark containing the department name, user name, IP address, and date on PC monitor screens and printed materials to raise awareness about personal information leakage.

This solution is configured to allow tracking in the event of a leakage incident, and starting from the 2nd of next month, watermarks will also be applied to printed materials.

After a personal information leakage incident involving a public official at the Gwonseon District Office occurred in December last year, Suwon City conducted a comprehensive review of access rights to personal information processing systems for 55 departments managing personal information permissions.

In January, after conducting a thorough inspection of the personal information processing systems, the city established measures to improve identified issues.

Additionally, from February 15 to 17, the city conducted a comprehensive inspection of personal information processing systems through a 'Personal Information Verification Team' composed of external experts, inspecting 26 systems that were pointed out for management vulnerabilities.

Going forward, the city will actively promote ▲special inspections of vulnerable areas (including on-site inspections by external expert verification teams) ▲introduction of personal information leakage prevention systems ▲proposals for improvements in personal information management in central government systems ▲consultations to improve access record inspections and on-site inspections ▲enactment of Suwon City's Personal Information Protection Ordinance ▲establishment of integrated personal information access rights management guidelines for Suwon City ▲strengthening of personal information protection education ▲creation of a dedicated personal information protection organization and reinforcement of system personnel.

A city official explained, "We will continuously implement safety measures through special inspections of access rights and access records to personal information processing systems," adding, "We will also form and operate a Personal Information Access Management Deliberation Committee and further strengthen personal information protection education."
