[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] Aju Industry has stepped up efforts to strengthen safety and health management. This is to create a healthy and safe workplace through industrial accident prevention.
To this end, Aju Industry has reinforced its ESG management team by hiring experienced personnel holding industrial safety engineer qualifications, and conducted autonomous safety inspections including safety and health systems and on-site safety diagnoses at 11 business sites such as ready-mixed concrete, piles, aggregates, and V-Sem Co., Ltd. through external specialized institutions. The company plans to enhance the effectiveness of accident prevention by independently identifying system deficiencies and hazardous risk factors and proactively improving them. Hazardous risk factors will be immediately or sequentially improved according to risk criteria.
Additionally, along with existing risk assessment certified sites in Gwangju, Suwon, and Incheon, the Byeongjeom, Incheon, Bibong, Sangam, Asan, Paju, Pyeongtaek, and V-Sem Co., Ltd. sites are expected to obtain the ‘Risk Assessment Certification’ hosted by the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency within this year, aiming for all business sites to receive risk assessment certification. Through external agency audits, the company will verify whether the risk assessments conducted annually by each site meet evaluation requirements and identify additional risk factors to strengthen control measures. Since the proposal system was implemented in 2005, rewards for safety and health-related proposals will be enhanced. Production partner companies will also be allowed to participate directly in the proposal system to expand worker participation.
Safety campaigns will also be conducted. On the third Wednesday of every month, 'AJU Safety Inspection Day' will be held for all members including partner companies to raise safety awareness. During the first half of the year, the number of supervisors at all business sites will be increased from 18 to 39, and the number of members of the Industrial Safety and Health Committee will be expanded to strengthen the safety and health management system organization.
Park Sang-il, CEO of Aju Industry, stated, "In accordance with the enforcement of the Serious Accident Punishment Act, all internal executives and employees are making comprehensive efforts to establish a safety and health management system," adding, "We will continue to do our best to prevent safety blind spots by strengthening systems such as regular safety inspections and worker education."
